Calm, private discussion
Fear and worry are heard without judgement.
You wake unable to move, with something pressing on your chest
It is always around three. You are awake, you can see the room, and you cannot move or call out. There is a weight on you, sometimes a shape at the edge of the bed. Then it breaks, and you lie there with your heart pounding. After the fourth night you are afraid to sleep. Your roommate in Pune says it is a spirit.

A student preparing for exams begins having these episodes twice a week. Her mother travels from Satara with holy water. The episodes continue. A doctor at the college clinic asks about her sleep and tells her the word for it.
What you are describing is very likely sleep paralysis, in which the mind wakes before the body does. A sense of presence, pressure on the chest and vivid figures are typical. It is frightening and harmless. It is brought on by lack of sleep, irregular hours, stress and sleeping on the back, and people in every culture have explained it as a visitation.
A consultation offers reassurance and practical measures. A calming prayer before sleep can be suggested. We do not claim to drive out spirits and do not think you are under attack.
A known sleep phenomenon, common under stress.
Short or broken sleep, late nights, anxiety, caffeine.
Regular sleep, a wind-down routine, and knowing it will pass in a minute or two.
When you go to bed, how long you sleep, and when episodes occur. The main service page has the booking information.
How the consultation worksIt shortens sleep, which brings more episodes. Break the loop with routine.
Try moving a finger or toe, and breathe slowly. It ends sooner.
See a doctor; other sleep conditions should be checked.
Go to bed and get up at the same times each day, with at least seven hours between. No screens or caffeine late. Sleep on your side if you can. During an episode, remind yourself what it is, focus on a slow breath and try to wiggle a toe.
A short prayer or a few minutes of quiet recitation before sleep helps many people settle; the Hanuman Chalisa is a common choice. Leave a dim light if you like. Talk to your family about what it actually is so that their alarm does not add to yours. If episodes are frequent, or you have very bad low mood or anxiety, see a doctor.
The session is online and can be joined from Pune in the evening. We explain and reassure. Birth details are optional.
The sensation is a recognised feature of sleep paralysis. It feels real and is not dangerous.
The dreaming mind is partly active while you are awake. Many people report the same.
Prayer can calm you before sleep, which helps. Regular sleep is the main remedy.
If it comforts you for a while, yes. It is not necessary for safety.
