Fear and worry are heard without judgement.
Your heart races, you cannot breathe, and you are sure something has been done to you
The first time was in the car at a red light in Sector 17. Your chest tightened, your hands went numb, you were certain you were dying. The hospital said your heart was fine. It has happened six times since, at home, in the market, once in the gurdwara. Your grandmother says it is an attack from outside. It certainly feels like one.

During an episode, breathe out slowly for longer than you breathe in, and tell yourself: this is panic, it will pass in a few minutes, I am safe. Do not flee the place if you can help it. Cut down caffeine and get regular sleep. A familiar prayer repeated slowly with the breath works well as a calming focus. Tell your family the name for it, so they can help instead of fearing for you. Many people find it useful to rehearse the breathing at a calm moment each day, so that it comes automatically when an attack begins.
The session is online and can be joined from Chandigarh, Mohali or Panchkula. We explain patiently. Birth details are optional.
